Film · Motion Design · Strategy · Full Ownership
From start to finish, I took the reins on crafting an engaging video series for this dynamic startup. Conceptualizing, filming, editing, colour grading, and motion graphics — not handed off between departments, but owned end to end by one person.
UrbanCooLab came with a product, a vision, and an audience of early adopters who needed to understand why it mattered. The brief wasn't just a video — it was an introduction. A dynamic guide that could energize the first wave of users and make the product's value instantly clear.
The challenge: no established visual language, no production team, and a brief that spanned film, design, and motion. Everything built from scratch.
The creative direction resolved around three decisions: a tone that felt conversational-but-premium (approachable startup energy, not cheap production value), motion used as connective tissue rather than decoration, and a shot plan designed around post-production needs — every setup selected knowing exactly how it would be cut and what motion layer would land on top.
PHASE 01
Discovery with the client to understand the product, the audience, and the tone. From there: a creative direction that could hold up across film and motion — and a shoot plan that accounted for everything we'd need in post.
PHASE 02
On-location shoot with the UrbanCooLab team. Set direction, on-set creative decisions, and capturing the energy the product deserved. The shoot gave us the raw material — the real work started in post.
PHASE 03
Edit, colour grading, motion graphics layered over the footage, and final delivery. The motion work unified the raw film with the startup's visual identity — giving early adopters a product intro that felt as premium as the product itself.
This project demonstrated what full creative ownership looks like in practice — concept, shoot, edit, grade, and motion, all from one person, without the communication overhead of a distributed team.
"Exceptional creative instincts and flawless execution. Exactly the kind of partner a startup needs when there's no room for error."
